OUR FIRST INNOVATION

Beer brewers and whisky distillers extract sugars from barley to ferment into alcohol. What’s left behind is a protein-rich biomass known as ‘brewers spent grain’ (BSG) or ‘draff’ as it’s known in the whisky world. Traditionally, these by- and co-products are either sent to landfills or repurposed for low-value uses like cattle feed or biogas.

At Arda, we’re changing that. We transform these spent grains into high-value materials—the first being New Grain™, a revolutionary, high-quality, leather-like material that bypasses the need for animal leather and its plastic-derived counterparts.

Unlike many other leather-like materials that depend on polyurethane (PU) or other plastics for durability, flexibility, or protective coatings, New Grain™ stands apart. Thanks to Arda's breakthrough chemistry, we can use proteins to replace plastics while mimicking the complex fibrous structure of animal proteins in leather using plant proteins instead.

Whether for fashion, automotive, furniture upholstery, or any other uses, New Grain™ is being developed to adapt to diverse applications, offering a high-performance material that can thrive in its scalability, style, and functionality.
